Even though Aubrey's Natural Meats was organized in 2004, the company has truly been years in the making for its founder, Sarah Aubrey. Mrs. Aubrey has been involved in the livestock business since childhood, and along with Mr. Aubrey, continues today to raise and market live cattle today. On the meats side, Mrs. Aubrey judged for three years with the University of Illinois Meats Judging, Livestock Judging, and Meat Animal Evaluation teams. Among other awards, at the National Contest she was named 6th high individual overall (out of 242) and was 6th high individual overall in meat grading. Further, along with her degree in Agricultural Communications, she has a minor equivalent in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois. A College time highlight was being named First Runner-Up National Polled Hereford Queen.
Since college she has focused primarily on business and finance. From 1999-2001, Mrs. Aubrey worked in corporate strategic planning with food and agricultural companies and since 2001, she has been managing her own financial planning practice. It was actually her experience in financial planning combined with a deep-seated desire to become re-involved in animal production that prompted the founding of Aubrey's Natural Meats, LLC. Through her interaction with the consuming public, she realized that people are showing a strong desire to know where their food comes from. Many financial planning clients began asking if she knew where they could purchase meats without hormones and antibiotics. She didn't know where. Thus, she and Mr. Aubrey decided to provide the source-the impetus supplied; Aubrey's Natural Meats was born. |
